This week at its annual conference held at the company's flagship Radisson Blu Mall of Americas in Minneapolis, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced plans to launch two new brands, the Quorvus Collection and Radison Red. The flags will join the company's five others, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Inn by Radisson, Park Plaza, and Country Inn & Suites by Carlson. "These two brands will focus on new, emerging trends," said Gordon McKinnon, executive vice president and chief branding officer, speaking at the conference.

The Quorvus Collection will be composed of small, independent luxury hotels that will join the company's distribution and marketing system but keep their individual names. The Radisson Red brand, a mix of new-builds and conversions, will be in the midscale segment, with meeting space and limited food-and-beverage options. Carlson, which has earmarked $50 million in equity to help developers get the first few hotels to market, is developing two versions of Red -- one for the U.S. market, and another for the European, Middle East and Africa markets.
