Centara Hotels and Resorts has signed deals to develop two new properties in China, the Centara Grand Beach Resort Jai Tai Hanan in Hainan Province and the Centara Villa Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province. The hotels will be the first China hotels for the Thailand-based hospitality company.

The 350-room Centara Grand Beach Resort Jai Tai Hanan will feature large meeting facilities as well as three restaurants, multiple swimming pools, a club lounge, a spa, a fitness center, a water park and a kid's club. The resort will open in the fourth quarter of 2019 and is part of a development initiative to turn the island of Hainan into "China's Hawaii."

Centara Villas Zhaoqing, another new-build hotel, will offer 46 one-, two- and three-bedroom villas in Zhaoqing City, a tourist hub in the Pearl River Delta region. The property will be near Centara Resort Zhaoqing, where a rainforest-themed waterpark is under construction. Centara Villas is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2018.
