Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced today that Christie Hicks will be stepping down from her position as senior vice president of Starwood's Sales Organization. Hicks, who has been with Starwood for the past 15 years, has agreed to stay on to support the transition until a replacement is named. In her 15-year tenure with Starwood, she and her team were responsible for $7.5 billion in sales. Hicks started her career in 1985 at Hyatt as a sales assistant, rising to the executive ranks there before moving to Starwood. Among the many awards and honors she received during her career, she was named one of Forbes' 25 Most Influential Women in Travel and among the 25 Most Successful People in the Meetings Industry. In an email to Starwood employees announcing Hicks' departure, Frits van Paasschen, president and CEO said, "We will miss Christie's sense of humor, her contagious laughter and her spirit to fight for what she believes." As Hicks leaves Starwood, she is looking forward to some time with friends and not traveling, according to a spokesperson.
