The 400-room Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center has kicked off a major renovation of its lobby and meeting space, on both the first and second floors.

The lobby and entire first floor are being completely redesigned to become a sophisticated gathering spot. Renovated food-and-beverage options will include the Great Room lobby bar, with a selection of eclectic drinks; the grab-and-go Market Pantry; and the new Il Venetian Italian restaurant, which replaces David's, the current breakfast location. The upscale Il Venetian will be helmed by an actual Venetian, executive chef Alberto Leandri, and feature homemade pastas, fresh fish and seafood, fine meats, and artisan pastries and gelato.

A new M-Club Lounge also will debut on the first floor, offering an exclusive place to unwind for Marriott Rewards members.

The property's more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space will be completely redone as well, and will be closed from Dec. 17 of this year until March 2018. As with the first-floor redesign, all of the new meeting space will aim to reflect the lively, urban spirit of downtown Cleveland.

The revamped 24-hour fitness center and spa are nearing completion and will begin welcoming guests again in early 2018.
