Simon F. Cooper has stepped down as president of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. to head up Marriott International's new Asia Pacific division. Now president and managing director for the region, Cooper had been leading Ritz-Carlton since Marriott bought the company in 2001. Marriott began a restructuring last year that resulted in more Ritz-Carlton operations being centralized under the parent company, and Cooper's departure is the latest in the reshuffling. Long-time Ritz executive Herve Humler, one of the original founders of that chain, has been named the new president and COO of the brand. Marriott also named Edwin D. Fuller to lead operations and growth strategy in the Middle East and Africa. Fuller's title will remain president and managing director, Lodging International.
