Developers have canceled plans for the Grand Alps development in Grand Prairie, Texas, just west of Dallas; the project would have included a 300-room Hard Rock hotel and an indoor ski facility. According to news reports, land costs played a big part in the shelving of the project. "We wish the City of Grand Prairie the best in the entertainment district efforts," developer Sherman Thurston said in a statement. "We are committed to bringing the Grand Alps Resort and Hard Rock Hotel into the Dallas-Fort Worth area and will soon."
