The Eliza Jane Hotel, a 196-room Unbound Collection by Hyatt property, has opened in New Orleans' Central Business District in an historic building that once served as the headquarters of the Daily Picayune newspaper. The boutique property, two blocks from the French Quarter and a short walk from many of the city's iconic landmarks, is named after the Picayune's Eliza Jane Nicholson, credited as the first woman to serve as the publisher of a major metropolitan newspaper in the U.S.
The hotel's amenities include a fitness center and 1,700 square feet of multipurpose event space. The centerpiece will be an interior courtyard, debuting in June and available for events, which will feature a fountain and a variety of seating arrangements among a curated collection of antiques.
The hotel's dining options include Couvant, a signature French brasserie that will open this summer, as well as the Press Room lobby bar, which serves pastries and coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening.
"New Orleans is one of the most exciting places in the country, and we are thrilled to bring a fresh take on the city's hospitality scene with the opening of the Eliza Jane," said general manager Travis Tague. "The property fully embraces our city's spirit, and we look forward to complementing that by offering personalized and genuine New Orleans experiences to our guests."
