The 150-room Element by Westin Huntsville (Ala.) has opened on the top floors of the hotel complex that also houses the 210-room Westin Huntsville. This is the first such complex in the country, with both the Westin and Element by Westin brand in one location in the Cummings Research Park and Bridge Street Town Centre.

Element Huntsville's offerings include a complimentary breakfast bar, daily evening food-and-beverage receptions, and a gourmet on-site market; all guest rooms are equipped with kitchens. The 210-room Westin Huntsville currently is upgrading and enhancing its guest rooms, public space, and food-and-beverage outlets, and adding 11 suites. The meeting space is being expanded to include a second ballroom and meeting rooms certified by the International Association of Conference Centers; these additions will be completed by the end of the year. The Westin currently offers 10 meeting rooms and 13,000 square feet of meeting space. A Westin Workout Fitness Studio is among on-site amenities.

"Crescent has been closely involved with the development of the Huntsville Element, which I believe is the finest Element opened to date," said Michael George, president and CEO of Crescent Hotels & Resorts, which manages both properties. "Crescent is an award-winning Marriott operator and is thrilled to partner with the entire project team in transforming the Westin complex into this beautiful dual-branded property with the addition of the Element."
