More tourists visited Florida from April through June than have ever visited the state before during that same three-month stretch, according to preliminary estimates released by Visit Florida. A total of 23.4 million people traveled to the state in the second quarter, an increase of 2.6 percent over the same period in 2012. Hotel occupancies statewide averaged 68.3 percent, up almost 3 percentage points over last year and more than 5 percentage points since 2010. Visitor spending from January to May also rose 5.5 percent over the same period in 2012, to $33.2 billion.
