Gaylord Entertainment plans to develop an $800 million resort and convention hotel in Aurora, Colo., 10 minutes from Denver International Airport and 25 minutes from downtown Denver. Ground will be broken on the 85-acre property in mid- to late 2012; it will open in 2015 with 1,500 rooms, 400,000 square feet of meeting space and an atrium with full views of the Rockies. The project will be funded by Gaylord, potential joint venture partners and tax incentives from the city of Aurora.
