The 1,996-room Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Md., will open a 16,000-square-foot freestanding ballroom on May 12 on the banks of the Potomac River.
Offering views of the river, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and Old Town Alexandria, Va., the venue will present 270-degree views through floor-to-ceiling windows. It will be surrounded by two terraces, featuring 11,000 square feet of outdoor event space. The addition of the ballroom brings the property's total indoor and outdoor meeting space to more than 600,000 square feet.
The resort's guest rooms range from 800 to 2,800 square feet, including six presidential suites, five hospitality suites, 91 executive suites and eight concept suites with custom furnishings and signature color palettes. Among Gaylord National's eateries are the Old Hickory Steakhouse, the Pienza Marketplace and the National Pastime Sports Bar and Grill. Exclusive for hotel guests over 21 is the Pose Rooftop Lounge; the Belvedere Lobby Bar overlooks the property's two-acre lobby. Amenities include the full-service, 20,000-square-foot Relâche Spa; a fitness center; and a private dock with water taxi service to Old Town Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Washington, D.C., and the Washington Nationals' ballpark.
