Germany's Novum Hotel Group, which has 57 properties in that country, said it is planning to expand its portfolio to 85 hotels by 2020, according to an interview on HospitalityNet. The company is also looking to expand internationally and will focus on franchise contracts. "We will be going out on a limb, but not by much, since our forecasts could not be any better," said David Etmenan, managing partner of the Novum Group. "The frequency of our hotel takeovers is increasing steadily and our pipeline is packed." Etmenan said Novum was in advanced talks with Accor regarding its ibis and Mercure brands. With regard to expanding internationally, Etmenan said the company would initially be looking at German-speaking countries, such as Austria, and that it currently is in talks regarding a development in Vienna.
