The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen officially opened this week in Mexico's Riviera Maya. The 314-room resort had been slated to open as a Hyatt, but the luxury property instead received the upgraded designation, debuting as the first Grand Hyatt in Mexico. There are two restaurants on site, La Cocina and The Grill at 1-26, as well as a variety of bars and lounges, including a dessert bar and a juice bar, as well as the more typical libation-serving outlets. The 6,000-square-foot Cenote Spa offers six treatment rooms, and an adjacent fitness center includes a studio room for yoga, pilates, Crossfit and meditation classes. The resort featuers eight swimming pools, a children's program known as Camp Hyatt, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, which includes a grand ballroom and 18 meeting rooms.
