In Maui, Hawaii, the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, recently received the green light for a $250 million renovation. The Maui Planning Commission approved a special area permit that will allow for the addition of 300 rooms, bringing the resort’s total to 1,100, according to Travel Weekly. The project had been on hold since 2009 due to a legal dispute with Maui residents, but a settlement was reached late last month.
