A bill to help finance a 1,000-room headquarters hotel to serve Salt Lake City's Salt Palace unanimously cleared the Utah House Economic Development and Workforce Services Committee last week. Scott Beck, president and CEO of Visit Salt Lake, expects to know within the next three weeks whether the project is a go. While the exact location of the new hotel has yet to be chosen, several tracts of land are available within walking distance of the Salt Palace, which offers 515,000 square feet of exhibit space, and the goal is to choose one within 1,000 feet of the facility.
