The 365-room Hard Rock Hotel Desaru will open in Southeast Malaysia in fall 2017. The property is part of the new Desaru Coast resort district in the state of Johor; it will be near the Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park and the waterfront shopping district. The property will have meeting and event space, as well as access to the Desaru Coast Conference Center, also being built at the site. Size of meeting space and opening date for the conference center have not yet been announced. Other offerings at the Hard Rock include a pool bar; a full-service restaurant and a casual eatery; a spa with two outdoor treatment rooms, and a Fender guitar rental program for guests. Other resort developments include the Els Club Desaru Coast, which has two golf courses - the Ocean Course and the Valley Course. The golf facilities are slated to open in early 2017.

"With more than 25 million arrivals last year, Malaysia is recognized as one of the leading destinations in Asia where Hard Rock has a strong following and brand recognition," stated Leong Wy Joon, senior vice president of hotel development in Asia and India at Hard Rock International. "We are confident we will continue to build upon the phenomenal success of the Hard Rock Hotel Penang with this unique property."
