Qatar Holding, which owns the Harrods brand, has signed an agreement with property developer Jerantas Sdn Bhd to open Harrods hotels in key cities around the world. The first location is Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, for which the companies signed a memorandum of understanding to build a US$630 million hotel. Likely future sites include London, New York, Paris and China, with a preference given to sites already owned by Qatar Holdings. The company named Chelsea Barracks in London and Costa Smeralda in Sardinia as two examples of such sites.
