A $51 million project has begun at the 1,908-room Hilton San Francisco Union Square, remaking the 550 guest rooms in the original 1964 building. The 20,000-square-foot Continental Ballroom and 31 of the meeting rooms will be expanded and updated with contemporary design features. The property's public spaces also will be renovated. The hotel offers 134,500 square feet of function space.
