Asian cities posting the strongest hotel development pipelines include major destinations in India and the Philippines, according to the April STR Global Construction Pipeline Report. Year-over-year growth was particularly strong in New Delhi, India (48.5 percent); Manila, Philippines (28.2 percent), and Mumbai, India (20.6 percent), because of the relatively low current room supply in those areas. Bali, Indonesia (13.7 percent), and Bangkok, Thailand (12.9 percent), also reported significant gains in planned projects. The entire Asia Pacific region includes 291,946 rooms in the pipeline, according to the report.
