Hyatt Hotels Corp. and Unite Here, the hotel workers' union, today announced a national agreement that resolves all longstanding disputes between the two organizations. The deal will go into effect after contracts are ratified by Hyatt associates in San Francisco, Honolulu, Los Angeles and Chicago. The new contracts will provide retroactive wage increases and maintain quality health care and pension benefits, and will be in force through 2018. A key point for the union, the agreement includes a mechanism for employees at a number of Hyatt properties to vote on whether they wish to be represented by Unite Here. Once the union contracts are signed, the union will end its global boycott of Hyatt.
