A Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property will be part of the Museum Place mixed-used development in San Jose, Calif. The 173-room hotel, Kimpton's first in the city, will open in mid-2021.

Museum Place will include a major expansion of San Jose's Tech Museum of Innovation, adding 54,000 square feet onto the popular venue. In addition to the new Kimpton, the development also will feature 300 residential units, retail space and restaurants, as well as 250,000 square feet of office space.

The Kimpton will have about 8,000 square feet of meeting space, along with a full-service restaurant, a casual café, a bar, an outdoor pool and a fitness center. The development will be just one block from the San Jose Convention Center; the project also calls for improvements to the existing pedestrian promenade connecting the convention center to Park Avenue.

The hotel will be Kimpton's 10th in California.
