The Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa in Old Town Alexandria, Va., has completed an update of its 107 guest rooms as well as the outdoor terraces, hallways, public areas, the French brasserie Brabo and meeting spaces. The $2.5 million redesign created an elegant, modern and "dream-inspired" look. Purples, copper, greys, blues and greens were used throughout, along with a Rorschach-inspired wall-covering in the guest rooms that the designers hope will encourage visionary thought.
The hotel's Presidential and Diplomat suites are geared for hospitality events. Both feature sectional seating, reading chairs and oversized bathrooms with spa rain showers. A highlight of the Presidential Suite is its contemporary dining room with built-in wet bar for gatherings of up to 10 guests.

French-inspired cuisine from noted executive chef Sébastien Rondier of Brabo is served at events. The restaurant's bar was doubled in size about 18 months ago, and the eatery features a 10-person chef's table for a more intimate dining experience.

The property has nearly 5,600 square feet of event space which opens onto private courtyards and terraces. The 1,250-square-foot Liberty Room is the hotel's largest space.
