Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will be opening two new properties in Charlotte, N.C., in 2017. Downtown, the 216-room Charlotte Kimpton will be part of a mixed-use project being developed by Spectrum Properties and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors. The property will feature more than 9,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant, a fitness center and a large indoor/outdoor rooftop bar overlooking Romare Bearden Park.

In the historic Dilworth section, the 128-room Dilworth/South End Charlotte Kimpton will be designed as a community gathering place. Being developed by Charlotte-based Catellus Group, the property will have 4,500 square feet of meeting space, a neighborhood restaurant, a fitness center, an outdoor pool and bar, and a rooftop lounge venue with views of downtown. The hotel will be a block from a light-rail station.

"Charlotte has long been a financial and cultural hub; it's always been on our radar as a city that admirably balances both history and modern day appeal," said Mike DeFrino, CEO of Kimpton. "Travelers to Charlotte have missed a true boutique experience, and we're excited to be in a position to offer two distinctive hotels that bring Kimpton's heartfelt hospitality to this special city."

The two new Charlotte hotels will join the Brice in Savannah, Ga.; the Kimpton Cardinal in Winston-Salem, N.C. (opening later this spring); and a Nashville hotel (opening in 2017 opening) as part of the brand's expansion through the South.
