The 94-suite Lord Jeffrey Inn in Amherst, Mass., has been awarded LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Getting the 90-year-old hotel to this level took a lot of work, according to insiders, including the installation of efficient lighting, geothermal heat pumps, energy recovery ventilation and efficient plumbing fixtures. The Western Massachusetts property has a 2,360-square-foot ballroom, a garden that can be tented for a dinner of up to 180 guests, an indoor pool and a fitness center.
