Los Angeles hotel owners are pushing to raise the tax on guests from 14 percent to 15.5 percent in city hotels with 50 rooms or more. The new levy, expected to bring in from $10 million to $11 million annually, is scheduled for a vote by the Los Angeles City Council committee later this month, with the city’s 192 large hotels voting soon after.
