The Marriott Mobile app, which was already offering mobile check-in and other features to Marriott Rewards members, has added mobile checkout to the mix. The new functionality is available for 326 Marriott properties throughout North America, with the exception of Quebec. Next week, an additional 22 international hotels will add the functionality. Later this year, all 500 Marriott properties worldwide should offer both mobile check-in and checkout, which will be available in English, Chinese, French, Spanish and German. Guests using the app will receive a push notification on their scheduled day of departure, alerting them that mobile checkout is available. Those who use it will be asked for an email address to which their final bill will be sent. The free app is available for Apple iOS and Android devices.

Meanwhile, Marriott continues to pilot additional mobile functionality at its incubator hotels, such as the ability to make requests for amenities directly through a smartphone chat application. The incubator hotels include the New York Marriott Downtown, Chicago Marriott Downtown, San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, Denver Marriott West, Denver Airport Marriott Gateway, Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, Charleston (S.C.) Marriott, Boston Marriott Copley Place, Marriott Redmond (Wash.) Town Center, Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, Cincinnati Airport Marriott, Marco Island (Fla.) Marriott and Grand Hotel (Ala.) Marriott Resort.
