Marriott International is expanding its South American presence with properties in Brazil and Peru, the company recently announced. Brazil's Hotel & Spa do Vinho, a 128-room retreat in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, will join the Autograph Collection early next year. The independent luxury property opened in 2007, and is set on more than 40 acres in Brazil's wine capital. In addition to the spa, on-site facilities include two restaurants and five meeting rooms, for a total of 5,400 square feet of meeting space. Meanwhile, on Tuesday Marriott announced the development of the 150-room Courtyard by Marriott Lima, opening in the San Isidro business and retail district of Peru's capital city in 2013. An on-site restaurant will offer catering for small meetings. The property will be Peru's first Courtyard, while the Hotel & Spa do Vinho represents the first Autograph Collection hotel in South America.
