 On Monday, Marriott International announced the global pipeline for its signature brand, Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Nearly 50 properties are under development, with an emphasis on emerging markets -- 24 hotels are planned for the Asia Pacific region and nine for the Middle East/Africa, as well as 12 in the Americas and four in Europe. Six hotels are slated to open this year, including the 295-room Shanghai Marriott Luwan, 720-room Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre, 319-room Guangzhou Marriott Hotel Tianhe and 392-room Haikou Marriott Resort and Spa, all in China; the 364-room Jaipur Marriott Hotel, in India; and the 199-room Ryaong Marriott Resort & Spa, in Thailand. Properties also are planned for the emerging Vietnamese destinations of Nha Trang and Hoi An, as well as Xi'an, in mid-west China. The flag also will debut in the fast-growing European destinations of Espoo, Finland; Krasnodar, Russia; and Skopje, Macedonia.
