The 1,000-room Marriott Marquis Houston hard by the George R. Brown Convention Center is on track to open as planned on Oct. 1, 2016. The property will have 100,000 square feet of its own meeting space, including Houston's largest ballroom at 39,000 square feet.
"Using cutting-edge technology, crafted amenities, and elevated food and beverage outposts, the property captures the bold, fearless spirit of Texas itself -- empowering guests to blend work and play for meetings, leisure and business travel," said Jay Marsella, director of sales and marketing for the hotel.
The rooms will feature Marriott's signature bedding and will offer in-room technology options such as an LCD televisions, a connectivity plug-in panel, and both wired and wireless Internet. For working, the rooms will be equipped with custom-designed pivoting desks and ergonomic chairs.
An amenity deck with and infinity pool and Texas-shaped lazy river will sit 110 feet above ground. For relaxing and working out, there will be a 5,000-square-foot, full-service spa with seven treatment rooms, and a 5,000-square-foot fitness center. Two specialty restaurants (one helmed by a to-be-named local Houston celebrity chef), a two-story sports bar, a wine bar, a lobby bar, a café. and a pool bar and grill round out the amenities.
The property also is a few blocks from Minute Maid Ballpark and the Toyota Center.
