Marriott International, which currently has 132 hotels in Asia, plans to open an additional 143 properties within the next four years. If all goes according to plan, the chain will have at least 265 hotels with a combined 80,000 rooms across 16 Asian countries. "While China and India are the driving forces for our business in Asia," said Simon Cooper, Marriott International’s president and managing director in Asia, "we are also seeing growth in new signings and openings in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam and elsewhere in the region."
