Marriott International will provide free standard Wi-Fi to all Marriott Rewards members who book directly, beginning Jan. 15, 2015. Eligible booking channels include, Marriott’s mobile app, the company’s toll-free reservations number or through a specific hotel. The benefit applies to all Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Gaylord Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels by Marriott, Marriott Executive Apartments and Ritz-Carlton properties. Those brands join those in the portfolio that already offer free standard Wi-Fi, including Edition, Moxy, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott Vacation Club. “Free Wi-Fi is a meaningful way to reward our most loyal customers and continue to attract next-gen travelers,” noted Stephanie Linnartz, Marriott's executive vice president and chief marketing and commercial officer. When the plan goes into effect, the upper-tier Marriott Rewards members with Platinum and Gold Elite status, who currently already receive this benefit, will get free enhanced Wi-Fi where available, with faster download speeds. Other members can upgrade to the enhanced service for a fee. Marriott will continue to honor any previously negotiated agreements with accounts and groups.
