The London-based Millennium & Copthorne hotel group has aggressive plans to grow its portfolio in the Middle East and Africa. Speaking last week in Abu Dhabi at the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meeting Exhibition 2014 summit, Ali Hamad Lakhraim Alzaabi, president and CEO of Millennium & Copthorne Middle East, said the company is looking to open another 20 hotels in the region by 2017, which would grow its portfolio there to 50 properties. "Our plan is to expand throughout the entire Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," he said. Later this year, the company will open the 307-room Millennium Hotel & Convention Center in Kuwait City, which will have 40,000 square feet of meeting space. Over the next 18 months, more hotels will open in Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
