Marriott's Millennial-minded Moxy brand will debut in San Diego later this month in the city's Gaslamp Quarter, a short walk from the San Diego Convention Center. The 126-room boutique hotel will sport a playful, eclectic design, beginning with a check-in process that entails receiving digital room keys and a signature welcome cocktail from a custom-made lobby tricycle.
The lobby will double as the property's primary gathering spot, offering shuffleboard, 1980s arcade games, Giant Jenga, Twister and a series of regularly programmed events for all hotel guests. The whimsical design will be carried through to the exterior with a custom mural painted by a Los Angeles-based graffiti artist.

On-site F&B will be found at the Bar Moxy, and a fitness center will also be available for guests. Small meetings can be accommodated on-site in the 220-square-foot Gaslamp room.

The just-announced opening team will feature captain (Moxy's version of a general manager) Lindsay Jones, formerly the director of rooms at the city's Kona Kai Resort & Spa, and director of sales and marketing Geneva Maxwell, formerly the local director of sales and marketing for Interstate Hotels & Resorts. San Diego and Los Angeles restaurant and bar vet Mark deSalvo will serve as food-and-beverage manager.
