With nearly 1,400 rooms under construction and an additional 2,100 in the planning stages, the Nashville area is experiencing a surge in hotel growth. The total of 3,500 rooms would increase the region's room inventory by 10 percent, according to The Tennessean. The four projects currently being built include the 800-room Omni Nashville Hotel that will be completed with the city's new 1.2 million-square-foot Music City Center convention complex in 2013. Also under construction are the 344-room Drury Plaza Hotel in Cool Springs, a 119-room Home2 Suites near Vanderbilt University and a 102-room TownePlace Suites near Nashville International Airport.
