Houston First, which manages the George R. Brown Convention Center and the 1,200-room Hilton Americas-Houston, wants to build another 1,000-room property to serve the convention center. The organization has hired a consulting firm, Strategic Advisory Group, to start the request process to find a developer of a mixed-use project that could include the hotel plus commercial, retail and residential space. The new complex would be within walking distance of the center.
