The 28,000-square-foot expansion of the convention center at Disney's Yacht & Beach Resorts has been completed.

The expansion brings the total amount of flexible event space at the resorts to 100,000 square feet. Among the additions are the 16,000-square-foot Newport Ballroom, which can be divided into eight breakout spaces, as well as three prefunction areas and two gathering rotundas designed to promote networking. In total, the resorts offers 1,190 recently renovated guest rooms, all within walking distance of Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios entertainment district. Other enhancements include the Ale & Compass Lounge, the Ale & Compass Restaurant and the Market at Ale & Compass. All of the existing convention space also has been renovated.

"You'll find upgrades throughout the rest of our convention center to match the look and feel of the new ballroom -- plus great amenities and state-of-the-art technology that we've built into our meeting spaces," said Maryann Smith, vice president of sales, services and events for Disney Destinations. "As you can see, we're making exciting investments in our meetings business here at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and this is just one of our venues that sets Disney apart in the industry."
