Starwood Hotels & Resorts unveiled new guest room designs last week for both the Westin and Sheraton brands. The new decor will debut at new-builds and renovations throughout the world. The Westin rooms are inspired by natural elements and feature neutral colors, wood and stone, while the Sheraton design is a classical revival scheme, featuring rich color palettes and modern interpretations of classic textures and patterns. Both include practical touches, such as easily accessible electric outlets and LED reading lights. The first Westin properties to feature the new look will be the Westin Phoenix, opening in February 2011, and the Westin Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, which will complete a renovation in early 2011. The Sheraton Red Deer in Alberta, Canada, and the Sheraton Syracuse (N.Y.) University Hotel & Conference Center both are scheduled to be renovated early next year, and will be the first to debut the Sheraton makeover.
