The 146-room Hotel Emma opens Nov. 12 in San Antonio's Pearl District along the Museum Reach section of the River Walk. The Pearl, originally a brewery built in 1883, also features a Culinary Institute of America campus and the circular 5,525-square-foot Pearl Stable event venue.
The new hotel is in what was once the brew house, and is named after Emma Koehler, the wife of brewery founder Otto Koehler; she ran the brewery through Prohibition after her husband died. The property offers 6,160 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. A love of all things culinary permeates the hotel, and three dining outlets are on-site: Supper, serving seasonal greenmarket fare; Sternewirth, the hotel's bar and club, featuring wines, craft beers and small plates; and Larder, a gourmet market with a selection of local goods, groceries, house-butchered meats and other provisions, plus prepared foods.
