Renovations to the West building at the 779-room Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., have been completed. A three-story addition added 31 guest rooms (including four new suites) to the property, and the old rooms were expanded by 85 to 200 square feet. The new Ristorante del Lago, designed by Adam D. Tihany, has opened, and a healthy-dining option, Natural Epicurean will debut in June. Opening in August is Cloud Camp, a wilderness retreat on Cheyenne Mountain above the property, on the site of the Cheyenne Lodge built by the hotel's original owner, Spencer Penrose. At an elevation of 9,200 feet, Cloud Camp will have a lodge with seven guest rooms surrounded by 11 cabins. Guests will be able to take a two-hour hike up to the camp, ride mules there or arrive by Jeep. Reopening in July is the Ranch at Emerald Valley, another of Penrose's former playgrounds, about 30 minutes up the mountains in the Pike National Forest. Featuring 10 cabins and a common-room lodge, the ranch was damaged during flooding last fall and had to undergo repairs. The Broadmoor offers three top golf courses and 185,000 square feet of meeting space.
