The 190-room M Social, the second in the brand from Millennium Hotels, has opened on the waterfront in Auckland, New Zealand. The other property in the brand is the Philippe Starck-designed M Social Singapore, which debuted in summer 2016.

"We are extremely excited to be bringing such a vibrant lifestyle hotel to Auckland that will constantly evolve and embrace local culture," said Nigel Edwards, General Manager of M Social Auckland. "Not only will M Social Auckland provide the perfect base for travelers, it will become a local hotspot for those who live, work and play in the area to socialize."

"Contemporary" is the key word describing the new hotel, which aims to "provide a modern space for those who live, work and play in the neighborhood, as well as a social base for curious travelers."

The hotel has five guest-room types -- the Social Room, the Social View Room, the Social Club Room, the Social Tribe Room and the Social Tribe View Room -- as well as two suite categories, the Harbour Suite and the Ocean Suite. Each floor has a theme, such as fauna, marine life and literature. All rooms have wall-to-wall windows overlooking Auckland Harbour; the Social View categories are on the upper floors for broader views. The 'Social Tribe' rooms have two interconnecting bedrooms, and those staying in a Social Club Room or one of the suites have access to the Social Lounge, a hub for guests offering communal workstations and tables, with printers, stationery and other essentials available, as well as a pool table and a concierge.

Casual all-day dining is available at Beast & Butterflies, featuring an outdoor terrace and bar. The food menu highlights exotic flavors from the Pacific Rim with street food influences, and the drinks menu offers a range of classic and innovative cocktails, and an extensive a wine list. For grab-and-go bites, the Delicatessen serves fresh salads, cured meats and bakery items. M Social Auckland will welcome events for up to 50 people.
