Opening Thursday, Oct. 17, is the new-build Odessa (Texas) Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, offering 215 rooms and 46,000 square feet of meeting space. The project is the result of a joint venture between the city and private owners Toby and Sondra Eoff of Eofficial Enterprises.

"After nearly four years from plans to construction, we are proud to announce that the Odessa Marriott is complete," said Toby Eoff in a statement. "We believe that through the partnership we have formed with our city of Odessa, we have delivered one of the most spectacular and artful hotel conference centers."

Among the amenities are a 1,600-square-foot Presidential Suite, resort-style swimming pool, 24-hour fitness center, signature restaurant, full-service Starbucks and M Club lounge for Marriott's BonVoy Elite members and those staying on the concierge levels. The highlight of the meeting space is the 18,000-square-foot ballroom; an expansive outdoor garden venue beckons groups outside.

The three-meal restaurant, Barrel and Derrick, features West Texas cuisine with its own flair, sourcing ingredients from within the state. The hotel is connected to the historic Ector Theatre, which is being renovated for a reopening in late spring 2020. Improvements include the addition of a full backstage area, complete with dressing rooms, as well as redesigned interior.

The hotel's design aesthetic incorporates natural woods and stone elements taken from Odessa's oil and mineral history, aiming for a rugged yet sophisticated look throughout.

With sustainability in mind, the Odessa Marriott is incorporating renewable energy sources into its landscape in the form of wind-powered sculptures and the "Smart Flower," a state-of-the-art solar monument that also is the single power source for the property's Starbucks.

"The city is proud to be a part of such an innovative project that combines functionality and art into a facility that Odessa can be proud to have in the heart of downtown," said Odessa Mayor David Turner. "We have been fortunate to have amazing partners in Sondra and Toby Eoff, who share the same vision and passion for our city. Our belief is that the completion of this project is only the beginning of what's to come to downtown Odessa."
