The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. has signed a management agreement with NDG Asia Pacific (NZ) Ltd. to open the Ritz-Carlton, Auckland, New Zealand's first Ritz-Carlton property, in 2019.

The 300-room capital-city hotel will be in downtown Auckland and will offer 360-degree views of Auckland's twin harbors, as well as easy access to the vineyards on nearby Waiheke Island by helicopter.

Among the amenities will be two terraces adjacent to a lounge, a street-level café and two fine-dining restaurants. Groups will be able to choose from two Ritz-Carlton ballrooms.

"We have long desired to bring Ritz-Carlton to New Zealand, and we've patiently waited for the right partner and opportunity that will create a showcase worthy of this world-class city," said Hervé Humler, president and COO, of the company. "We're delighted to be partnering with NDG Asia Pacific (NZ) Ltd. to open the first Ritz-Carlton in the land of the long white cloud."
