The 160-room Sheraton Istanbul Atasehir, debuting in 2015, will become Starwood's first hotel on the Asian side of Turkey's largest city. The hotel will be part of a building that includes offices, conference rooms and retail establishments, occupying the 18th to 27th floors. Extensive meeting space is planned for the property, including a grand ballroom, a junior ballroom, 12 meeting rooms and a business center. Additional amenities will include a restaurant, a lobby bar, an outdoor pool and a Sheraton Shine Spa with five treatment rooms. Starwood currently has 10 hotels in Turkey, representing the Sheraton, W, Le Méridien, Aloft and Luxury Collection brands. Later this year the St. Regis flag will debut in Istanbul, followed by the Four Points by Sheraton brand next year in the same city. Two additional Sheraton properties are slated to open in Turkey next year as well. The country is one of Starwood's focal points for growth; the company announced plans Tuesday to open 60 new hotels and resorts across the European continent by 2020, expanding its presence there by nearly 40 percent.
