The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and Host Hotels & Resorts have signed an agreement for Host to invest $164 million in improvements to the 585-room Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott, with $34 million of that to be spent before Super Bowl XLVIII, to be played in New Jersey's New Meadowlands Stadium in 2014. As part of the agreement, the Port Authority will extend the hotel's airport lease for 40 years. The work is expected to generate 250 jobs, $14 million in wages and $60 million in economic activity over the life of the project.
