The 374-room Omni Charlotte Hotel in North Carolina will undergo a $26 million renovation aimed to make everything about the property more contemporary.

In the city's financial district, the hotel will soon sport a design scheme that plays on Charlotte's history with precious metals. Throughout the hotel, custom fabrics and finishes will be have gold and silver tones.

"Once the transformation is complete, the Omni Charlotte Hotel will be a one-of-a-kind destination for leisure and business travelers, as well as meeting attendees," said David Palumbo, general manager for the Omni Charlotte Hotel. "The property will feature a sleek new exterior, modern lobby experience, cosmopolitan guest rooms and suites, and an exclusive rooftop pool deck and bar space that will soon become the city's go-to urban oasis."

The guest rooms will be tackled first, receiving new custom-made casegoods and an oversized plush sofa on the wall by the window. The bathrooms also are being redesigned with vanities and showers.

The redo of the hotel's rooftop pool deck will add about 3,000 square feet of space in the form of a new bar and grill. Double-sided LED television screens, each 22 feet wide by 12 feet high, will broadcast to the surrounding businesses and entertainment venues.

The arrival area and hotel lobby also are part of the project, as will the Trade Restaurant & Bar, which will open up into the lobby following the renovations. The eatery also will feature new seating, tables, carpet and decorative lighting; its new menu will feature small bites and street-food favorites. The property offers 13 function rooms for a total of 16,000 square feet of meeting space.
