Following Hilton's termination of its franchise license agreement with the owners of the former Pittsburgh Hilton two weeks ago, and the subsequent foreclosure attempt by mortgage holder BlackRock Financial Management, property owner Shubh Hotels Pittsburgh filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. A bankruptcy judge ruled that the 713-room property could use $405,000 to cover payroll costs and operate through today, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, following a busy weekend at the hotel. A hearing on the foreclosure is scheduled for today. The hotel's owners are discussing signing on with another brand, according to the Tribune-Review.
