According to the "Trends in the Hotel Spa Industry" survey from research firm PKF Consulting USA, the recent recession was harder on hotel spas than on the hotels themselves. While hotels began seeing some turnaround by the second quarter of 2010, the report shows that their spas did not begin to recover until 2011. Spa revenues, however, are expected to outpace growth in hotel revenue per available room in the next few years. PKFC has conducted its annual spa survey since 2007.
