Paradisus Resorts announced last week the development of a new luxury eco resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, scheduled to open in the summer of 2013. The 381-room Paradisus Papagayo Bay is being developed on about 52 acres overlooking the bay, and will offer a spa and health club, as well as 19,000 square feet of meeting facilities. Paradisus, which is owned and operated by Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts, ran the 406-room Paradisus Playa Conchal until May 1, when that property was reflagged as the Westin Playa Conchal Resort & Spa. Paradisus also is developing two resorts in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, which will open in November, as well as a resort in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, scheduled to debut within three years.
