The Park James Hotel, a 61-room luxury boutique property, will open for business in Menlo Park, Calif., on Sept. 24. The Park James - which will be run by Broughton Hotels, a specialist in operating boutique, independent properties - will cater to guests as well as locals with a chef-driven restaurant called Oak + Violet.

As would be expected in California's Silicon Valley, this modern, sophisticated hotel will emphasize connectivity and blur the line between social and work spaces. An indoor/outdoor bar just off the lobby promises to be suitable for both. The O+V Courtyard, as the outdoor lounge will be known, will feature movable seating, communal tables and Irish throw blankets for when the temperature drops. Craft cocktails and local wines will be on the menu.

The property will have 1,200 square feet of flexible meeting space, outfitted with state-of-the-art technology and a California craft design. Guest rooms will have high-end furnishings, luxury amenities such as Frette sheets and Momo toiletries, a personalized mini-bar, and in-room pour-over coffee. Tablet controls and digital entry pads will be in every guest room as well, along with oversized windows.

Oak + Violet touts its California "farm-to-fork" cuisine and will feature an Experience Dining Bar, where guests will be able to sample daily off-the-menu specials.
