Denver-based Red Lion Hotels Corp. is increasing its third-party group commission to 11 percent on all meetings and events booked by Sept. 3, 2018, and executed by Dec. 31, 2019. The increase in commission is part of a larger focus on increasing meetings and events business across all of the company's properties.

"This year we have seen a trend in the decrease of group commission rates," said Harry Sladich, executive vice president of hotel operations and sales for RLH, in a statement announcing the move. "We value the relationships we have built with meeting planners and travel agents and believe we have an opportunity to show our appreciation to this group by increasing their commission."

The increased commission is available at all participating RLH hotels, and does not apply to pre-existing group reservations. The company's portfolio of brands includes Red Lion Hotels, Red Lion Inn & Suites, Hotel RL, GuestHouse, Settle Inn, 3 Palms Hotels & Resorts, America's Best Inns & Suites, Americas Best Value Inn, Canadas Best Value Inn, Country Hearth Inn & Suites, Jameson Inn, Signature Inn, and Value Inn Worldwide.

"As we continue to grow our portfolio, we not only want meeting planners to take notice of our new booking options, but we also want them to hear loud and clear that RLH Corp. loves their partnership and believes meeting planners should continue to be rewarded for their contribution," said Calvin Anderson, RLH's senior vice president and chief of revenue optimization.

"The meeting planner is a very involved element to our business," added Sladich. "We recognize that despite all of the automation in the industry, meetings and group travel still require ample manual time. We are excited to be able to recognize our meeting planners and travel agents this summer and all of the hard work they put in each day."
